Strengthen Technical and Vocational Education in Balochistan
| Quetta, June 12, 2024 – The Virtual University of Pakistan (VU), Technical Training Center Kharan (TTC Kharan), and Taaleem Foundation (TF) today announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing technical and vocational education in the Kharan region of Balochistan.
The MoU, signed by Dr. Arshad Saleem Bhatti, Rector of Virtual University of Pakistan, Mr. Taj Mohammad Baloch, Campus Director from TTC Kharan (a project of Balochistan Public Private Partnership Authority), and Mr. Asim Mushtaq, Chief Executive Officer of Taaleem Foundation, outlines a collaborative framework to develop and deliver high-quality training programs, promote skill development, and create employment opportunities for the local community.
This strategic partnership will leverage the strengths of each organization:
“This partnership represents a significant step forward in our mission to empower the youth of Balochistan through education and skills development,” said Dr. Arshad Saleem Bhatti, Rector of Virtual University of Pakistan. “By combining our resources and expertise, we can create a lasting impact on the region’s socioeconomic growth.” Asim Mushtaq of Taaleem Foundation added, “We are excited to join forces with VU and TTC Kharan to create a model for technical and vocational education that can be replicated across Balochistan. This initiative will not only provide individuals with the skills they need to succeed but also contribute to the overall development of the province.” Dr. Faisal Khan, CEO of Balochistan Public Private Partnership Authority (BPPA), graced the event as the Chief Guest. In his address, Dr. Faisal Khan stated, “This MoU marks a new era of collaboration and innovation in technical and vocational education in Balochistan. By harnessing the expertise of VU, TTC Kharan, and Taaleem Foundation, we are laying the foundation for a skilled workforce that will drive the economic development of the region. This partnership is a testament to our commitment to improving the quality of education and creating sustainable employment opportunities for our youth.” The signing ceremony took place in Quetta and was attended by representatives from government, industry, and civil society, including Mr. Ghulam Raza, Assistant Director of Balochistan Technical Education & Vocational Training Authority (BTEVTA).
